1. Who we are
This Privacy Policy applies to Ment8 ("we", "us", "our"), a mentorship academy operating online and in the United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@ment8.io.
For the purposes of UK GDPR, Ment8 is the data controller for personal information you provide through this website.
2. What we collect
We only collect information you give us directly through one of our forms. Specifically:
- Free trial / consultation form: your name, email address, phone number (optional), child's age, and any notes you choose to share.
- Plan builder: the subjects, frequencies, and add-ons you select. When you submit, this is sent along with your contact details.
- Booking confirmation form: parent name, email, phone, student's name and age, plus the schedule you've drafted.
- Mentor application: name, email, area of expertise, and a short application summary.
- Enterprise waitlist: name, work email, company name, and team size.
- Contact form: name, email, and your message.
We do not collect any information about you automatically (no analytics, no advertising trackers).
3. Why we collect it
We use the information you give us to:
- Reply to your enquiry, schedule a session, or arrange a consultation.
- Match a student to an appropriate mentor.
- Send booking confirmations, payment links, and rescheduling information once you become a customer.
- Improve our service based on common questions or requests.
The legal basis under UK GDPR is your consent when you submit a form, and once you become a customer, contractual necessity — we need to keep your contact details to deliver the service you've signed up for.
4. Children's data
Some of the information you give us is about a child (e.g. their first name, age, subjects of interest). Because some of our students are under 18, we treat this information with extra care under Article 8 of the UK GDPR.
- The parent or guardian must be the one filling in the form.
- By submitting, you confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of the named child and consent to us holding this information.
- We never share children's data with third parties for any reason other than delivering the service (e.g. with the assigned mentor).
- You can ask us to delete a child's information at any time.
5. Who we share it with
We share your information only with:
- Netlify — our hosting provider. Form submissions are processed and stored by Netlify before being delivered to our inbox. Netlify's privacy policy.
- The mentor assigned to your child, once you become a customer. They receive only the information needed to deliver sessions.
- Payment processors (e.g. Stripe), if you choose a paid plan. We never store card details ourselves.
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to build profiles.
6. How long we keep it
If you submit a form but don't become a customer, we keep your enquiry for up to 12 months and then delete it.
If you become a customer, we keep your records for as long as you are a customer plus 6 years afterwards (this is to comply with UK accounting and tax record-keeping requirements).
You can ask us to delete your data sooner; see "Your rights" below.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct any information that's inaccurate.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten") — unless we have a legal obligation to keep it.
- Object to or restrict processing.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format.
- Complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

8. Cookies
We use only one type of cookie: a small "consent" record that remembers whether you've dismissed our cookie banner. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

9. Security
Your data is transmitted over HTTPS and stored on encrypted servers operated by Netlify. We restrict internal access to people who need it to deliver the service.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify customers by email.
